The Details

What Speech Therapy Focuses On

Speech therapy helps children improve communication by strengthening clarity, articulation, language, and confidence. It also supports social interaction, expressive language, receptive understanding, and voice or fluency challenges, so children communicate effectively at home, in school, and in the community.

It is also called speech-language pathology, SLP services, communication therapy, articulation therapy, or language support. Each term describes the same focus: building a child's ability to understand and be understood.

Therapy addresses speech sound disorders, articulation delays, and phonological difficulties. Language therapy builds vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure; fluency therapy supports children who stutter; voice therapy improves pitch, volume, and resonance. At Integrative, our speech therapists are also trained myofunctional therapists, so care also addresses oral motor skills, tongue posture, and swallowing.

Sessions are play-based and engaging, using games, stories, and activities. Parent involvement ensures children practice skills outside therapy, reinforcing progress at home and school.
