  • M.S. (Master of Science) — A Master of Science is a graduate-level academic degree earned after completing an accredited university program in a specialized field. For speech-language pathologists, the M.S. is the required entry-level degree for clinical practice in the United States. It represents a rigorous course of study that includes advanced coursework in communication sciences, swallowing, language development, and clinical disorders — combined with supervised clinical hours before licensure is granted.
  • Speech Language Pathologist, CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology) – This is the national gold-standard certification awarded by ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association). Shows the clinician meets the highest national standards. Ensures evidence-based, ethical practice.
  • IMSC (Integrative Myofunctional Specialist Certification)– An Integrative Myofunctional Specialist (IMSC) is a therapist with specialized training in myofunctional therapy using a comprehensive, whole-body approach. This certification focuses on the relationship between oral function, breathing and airway, feeding, posture, sensory-motor development, reflex integration, and overall function. IMSC therapists are trained to assess underlying patterns that may contribute to functional concerns and integrate evidence-informed myofunctional strategies into individualized treatment. This approach looks beyond isolated symptoms to support more coordinated and functional outcomes across the whole body.

Heather Wesseler is a speech language pathologist and a member of the American Speech Language and Hearing Association (ASHA). She earned her Bachelor’s of Science in Speech and Language Pathology, with double minors in Family Relationships and Child Studies, followed by her Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in 2015 from Miami University of Ohio. She has worked with all populations ranging from pediatrics to adults. Most of her career has been in the outpatient pediatric setting, with experience in the hospital and school settings as well. 

Heather has experience evaluating and treating phonological and articulation deficits, expressive and receptive language disorders, pragmatic language disorders, oral motor deficits, and feeding. She has completed specialized training as an Integrative Myofunctional Specialist (IMSC), allowing her to support clients with myofunctional needs as part of a comprehensive approach to communication and oral function. Heather loves working alongside families and creating a warm, fun environment for kids to grow in their communication confidence.

Outside of work, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband and their three young children, along with their goldendoodle, Oliver. Her favorite things include being outdoors, family time, coffee, and exercise.
