Karen H., M.A./CCC-SLP, QOM holds a Masters of Art degree from Appalachian State University. Karen began her career in 1998 working in a large pediatric acute care and rehabilitation facility in Eastern NC. She has had experience with children of all ages but has specialized in early intervention throughout her career. Her professional interests are in the areas of feeding and orofacial myology. Karen has provided speech-language therapy services in a variety of settings including pediatric acute care and in-patient rehabilitation, early intervention, preschools, daycares, outpatient rehabilitation, private clinic, and public schools. In addition to feeding and myofunctional therapy, Karen has experience treating children with articulation and phonological disorders, motor-based speech disorders (apraxia), auditory processing disorder, receptive/expressive language disorders, cognitive disorders, and pragmatic language disorders.

Karen is trained in Beckman oral motor interventions and PROMPT. She has
completed specialty continuing education classes through organizations such as Feed the Peds, CAN-EAT, and Passy Muir. 

Karen is a native of NC, has been married for 28 years, has three children and
two pups. In her spare time, Karen enjoys spending time with friends, traveling, and long walks on the beach.
